Hello, HRA Members,The Research Workforce and Early Career Development Learning Community will be hosting a webinar titled Beyond Funding: Designing Mentorship and Programmatic Supports for Early-Career Investigators on Thursday, September 24th from 2pm-3pm ET.
Mentorship plays a critical role in the development and long-term success of early-career researchers. Join Dr. Shanen Sherrer for a discussion of findings from her recent studies examining outcomes of the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program, including the role of mentorship in career advancement and leadership development. Drawing on evidence from fellowship alumni and program evaluation efforts, Dr. Sherrer will share insights into how funders can incorporate meaningful mentorship opportunities into their programs, assess mentorship impact, and better support the professional growth of young investigators.

Dear HRA Members,
Registration for the hybrid October 14-15, 2026 Members Meeting in Irvine, CA is now open! – Register Now!
The meeting will be held at the Newkirk Alumni Center on the University of California, Irvine campus (450 Alumni Ct, Irvine, CA 92697) and virtually via Zoom – and is generously sponsored by Arthritis National Research Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Mussallem CHD Alliance, and the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation.
The agenda and session descriptions are available at https://healthra.org/events/fall-2026-hra-members-meeting-irvine-ca/
Registration is free and exclusively open to staff/representatives of HRA Member Organizations and invited guest speakers. We expect to accommodate all in-person registrants. In the event that venue capacity fills up before the registration deadline, we will work directly with organizations sending larger delegations.
Virtual attendance will be available via Zoom and there is no limit to the number of remote attendees. Zoom links will be shared with attendees closer to the meeting date.
On Wednesday, October 14th, Altum will be hosting a networking cocktail reception immediately following the meeting program at Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar (19530 Jamboree Rd, Irvine, CA 92612). This networking event is open to all meeting attendees and speakers and will have an open bar and appetizers.
REGISTRATION:
To register to attend the meeting either in-person or virtually via Zoom, please fill out the registration form.
The deadline to register to attend in-person is September 30th.HOUSING:
HRA will not be reserving a hotel room block for the meeting. Instead, attendees can take advantage of discounted UCI-negotiated rates at several nearby hotels. When making your reservation, please ensure you mention that you are visiting UCI to secure these rates.TRANSPORTATION:
To help you plan your travel, we have created an interactive map of the meeting venue, nearby hotels with UCI-negotiated discounted rates, airports, train stations, and public transportation options.Please note that all vehicles parked on the UC Irvine campus require a parking permit. If you plan to park on campus, additional information on how to obtain your permit will be communicated by HRA closer to the event date.

Hello, HRA Members,The Therapeutic Development Learning Community will be hosting an open mic webinar titled From Grants to Game Plans: Open Mic on Translational Portfolio Management on Tuesday, July 28th from 1pm-2pm ET.
Managing a translational or drug discovery grant portfolio is not quite the same beast as managing a basic research portfolio. Join the Health Research Alliance Therapeutic Development Learning Community for an open-mic discussion on how funders define success, set milestones, assess applicants, manage follow-on funding, and make the most of co-funder interest. Come ready to share what has worked, what has flopped, and what you wish you had known earlier.
