Research Workforce and Early Career Development Community Call [February 5, 2025]

The Research Workforce and Early Career Development community held an open call on February 5th to gather the input and priorities on upcoming topics for the community.  Two main topics were discussed:

  1. Improving mentorship plans – as a follow up to our November meeting which shared data about mentorship, what sorts of mentorship opportunities does your organization offer?   What features have you found most helpful?  What models did you base this off of and how would you like to change or improve your program?  What can you share to other HRA members who are exploring new mentorship and training plans?
  2. Helping EC researchers prepare for the new administration – there have been changes made by the new administration that are (and will) impact scientific research and those who conduct it. What has been feedback from new scientists and have you been addressing it and how?  What recommendations can be made to other organizations that are considering new policies or procedures in the face of potential changes to government funding of science?
