Stand Up To Cancer is a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Founded in 2008 by leaders in entertainment and media industries, Stand Up To Cancer’s (SU2C) mission is to raise funds to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking translational research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C brings together the best and the brightest researchers and mandates collaboration among the cancer community. By galvanizing the entertainment industry, SU2C has set out to generate awareness, educate the public on cancer prevention, and help more people diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors. SU2C has generated pledges totaling $746 million to facilitate collaboration among top researchers in the cancer community, funding scientists from different disciplines across multiple institutions. Since the founding, Stand Up To Cancer has funded 167 individual and team science projects, all of which are focused on bringing new treatment options to cancer patients in the near term. This is done through intense peer-reviewed competitions for funding, innovative collaborations with industry when appropriate, and vigorous ongoing scientific review over the life of each grant.
