Organization Overview
The mission of the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Medical Research Foundation is to foster collaboration in biomedical research in order to accelerate medical innovation and to facilitate commercialization of innovative medical products for the public good. The Trustees believe that too often leading scientists operate in silos, pursuing their own research projects without formally and constructively coordinating these efforts with related efforts underway at other institutions. The Foundation is designed to encourage a different model in which scientists from many institutions come together to plan and conduct synergistic research studies to address major problems in disease research. The collaborating scientists determine the sequence, timing, scope and direction of the component projects, and the Foundation provides infrastructure and financial support to foster the collaborations and to protect and commercialize the resulting biomedical innovations.
