We are accepting applications for the 2026 cycle of the Single Ventricle Research Fund (SVRF), our flagship research award program!
The SVRF supports multi-year foundational studies aimed at improving outcomes for individuals with single ventricle heart disease by addressing the organ-level complications and sequelae that drive morbidity and mortality. Priority outcomes include preventing or reversing key organ-level complications such as:
- Lymphatic dysfunction
- Liver disease
- Kidney and gut perfusion impairments
- Heart failure, valve dysfunction, and arrhythmia
- Neurodevelopmental challenges
We also welcome bold, outcomes-focused proposals outside these areas that advance long-term health and quality of life for individuals with single ventricle heart defects.
Given our aim of improving outcomes, proposals that are specific to the origins of single ventricle but do not connect directly to outcomes are not eligible.
Applicants may pursue either of the following SVRF tracks:
- Independent Investigator Track, which is open to both tenure and non-tenure track independent investigators — including instructors, assistant professors, and tenured faculty — and provides up to $600,000 in direct costs
- Career Development Track, which is open to postdoctoral fellows or postdoc equivalents who hold mentored positions and provides up to $300,000 in direct costs
Indirect costs up to 10% will be provided in addition to the total funded amount.
For more important details, read the full SVRF RFP and apply. Letters of intent are due October 8, 2025.
