Using Logic Models – to develop programs and measure impact TODAY!

Learn about the value of logic models in both designing programs and measuring impact. Come prepared to ask questions and share your own challenges and success around issues such as metrics to measure success for awards with very different goals, and how to collect those metrics. Also, the logic model is only one way to help funders evaluate impact. What are others you would like to see this Community learn about?
Scientists from Minority-Serving Institutions and Their Participation in Grant Peer Review

We will hear from two of the authors of the publication “Scientists from Minority-Serving Institutions and Their Participation in Grant Peer Review.”
HRA Registry and Biorepository Community Call

We would like to invite you to join the Registry and Biorepository Community call on June 9th. Registries serve many purposes to meet the needs of patient advocacy organizations. The first half of the call will feature an invited speaker to discuss an Across Healthcare registry platform, Matrix (https://acrossmatrix.com/). Then we will prioritize future topics based on your interests and begin to identify speakers.
Venture Philanthropy—Is it for everybody?

Building on past presentations where we spotlighted the individual efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Foundation Fighting Blindness, and JDRF, we will hear this time from Mark Roithmayr, CEO of ADDF. Mark will walk through an organizational checklist to consider before taking on venture philanthropy, as well as keys for success, and pitfalls and traps.
Storytelling as a sensemaking strategy

Join the Communications Community in this session on how to think about storytelling as an opportunity to inspire interest and create change. We will hear from Liz Neeley, CEO of Liminal, who will draw from literature on uncertainty and risk communication, misinformation, psychology, narrative identity, and sensemaking to explore storytelling strategies for communities, organizations, and individuals.
HRA Misconduct and Ethics Community Call

The goals of the HRA Misconduct and Ethics Community include working together and with universities and other entities to mitigate grantee misconduct (not research related) such as harassment and toxic workplace environment. In past calls members have shared experiences, and policies they have implemented – what has been successful so far and what has not. Note that we do not discuss specific cases. The community invites you to their next call on July 19th, from 1-2pm ET. Calls occur the third Tuesday of every other month, and when you register using the link above you will have the remaining calls (9/20 and 11/15) for 2022 placed on your calendar.

AHA Precision Medicine Platform: Cloud-enabled Workspaces to Research
If you want to learn more about the Precision Medicine Platform, the data available, the ease of use, the analytical tools available, or the free trial please email Holly Picotte at [email protected]. The American Heart Association is committed to helping train the next generation of researchers and will offer up to 10 free trial workspaces for 3 months to each organization that is interested. During the presentation AHA staff demonstrated how organizations and researchers could leverage the data and tools available within this platform.
Open Mic: Training and Mentorship for Early Career Scientists from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups
During this session members shared organizational programs and strategies that strive to retain and advance Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and other marginalized Early Career Investigators. Topics ranged from “Where does my organization start?” to “What to do and what not to do” when you set up a program, and how to determine the short term versus longer term goals.
