Benefits of HRA Membership

Health Research Alliance (HRA) members are 100+ nonprofit, nongovernmental funders of biomedical and health research with the collective mission of maximizing the impact of research to improve human health. By joining this collaborative, diverse group of funders, you’ll gain access to HRA member activities, events, communities, and resources.

HRA Activities and Events

HRA hosts opportunities year-round to connect with other members of the community and discuss and learn about important nonprofit biomedical grantmaking topics.

Learning Communities

HRA’s Learning Communities are interest-based groups co-chaired by members of the HRA community. Each Learning Community meets virtually throughout the year to host open discussions, presentations from external experts and HRA members, working sessions, and more.

Members Meetings

Twice-annual Members Meetings (one hybrid and one virtual) provide opportunities to connect with other HRA members to learn about topics of mutual interest from external speakers and other HRA members.

Professional Development

HRA hosts professional development opportunities throughout the year to enhance the professional skills and career advancement of individual HRA members, including expert-led workshops and Peer Circle networking groups.

HRA Resources

HRA’s resources are developed with and for HRA members to facilitate community connection, collaboration, and learning.

Community-Based Resources

Learning Communities create and share many types of resources including community call recordings and materials, surveys and data analyses, educational materials, and policy/agreement language examples.

Email Listservs

Email listservs allow HRA members to share and request information from the HRA community. On the members-only Info listserv, HRA members share information about events and post questions to other members. Members can share open job postings and RFA/RFP via other listserv channels to which anyone may subscribe.

Platforms

HRA administers two platforms for use by member organizations: HRA Analyzer, a database of grants made by HRA member organizations; and HRA Open, a platform that promotes open access to science by allowing awardees to deposit publications in PubMed Central and link research outputs to HRA member grants.

Bias Mitigation Training

Through the Inclusive Grantmaking Initiative, HRA has developed Bias Mitigation in Peer Review Training materials tailored for program staff at member organizations and for reviewers. Asynchronous eLearning versions and customizable facilitator toolkit versions are available!
