    Hi everyone,

The Broad Institute and ASF have partnered to develop a survey to collect information across different disciplines and areas of interest to determine the effects of DOGE cuts. It includes questions about career plans, concerns, and mental health.

Please review this survey, and send it widely to your grantees. The information gathered will be shared with other HRA members. Please email me for a graphic and a social media blurb: [email protected] (sorry I can’t seem to figure out how to upload the graphic on the forums).

We have been talking about this for awhile, the Broad IRB approved it and we are excited to see the results!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Alycia,

I’d like to know more about this. Are you able to share the survey questions?

    Regards

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your interest in the early career survey and for tutoring me on the best way to upload documents in the forum!

The survey is a partnership between ASF and the Broad Institute, but is meant to be inclusive of all fields of biomedical research. Everything will be anonymous, so we will not share raw data but can share summary data. I was imagining that if many of us recruited a lot of participants, we could write a joint paper on the results.

Here are the survey questions and a flyer: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/70kb9bye8m49qj4f8r1g9/AFIWGIlmJLuiugFzwppohlk?rlkey=4dbnj6dx4s6uwgunlachfuul0&st=2exk68om&dl=0

We discussed this survey with the research workforce community, but I’m not sure everyone was on that call. The goal is to get as many people as possible to fill it out so we can get some data on how DOGE cuts are affecting career plans, mental health, and views of science in general.

    Thanks everyone!

This is helpful. Do you have an idea for how long it would take for folks to complete the survey (average?). We like to let our community know ahead of time how much time to set aside before they start. Any information would be welcome – even if it is an estimate.

    Thanks.

I took it as a test. It took me about 15 minutes.

There is also a follow up qualitative OPTION that people can sign up for (there will be an honorarium for that) but it’s totally optional but if they choose to do that it would be extra time.
