    Hello,

Across several of our programs, CRI has seen a significant increase in grant submissions—sometimes two to three times our historical averages. We wished to see whether other HRA members are seeing similar trends, and if so, whether the increases are occurring across all programs or concentrated within specific programs/categories (e.g., training grants, fellowships, etc.).

    Thank you,

    Hi Ryan,

We have seen a similar trend at the Hydrocephalus Association. We had about 1.5x the number of submissions for our main award, which is open to faculty members. We plan on implementing a competitive LOI next year to help combat the burden on both the applicants and the reviewers.

Hi Ryan, we’re seeing the same thing at CurePSP- our two grant programs, a student fellowship program and an early career investigator program, have seen increasing numbers, about double where they were in previous cycles.

Based on conversations I’ve had with a few other HRA members, this seems to be a common trend. ProposalCentral, the grant submission portal used by many HRA members, mentioned they’ve seen an increase in submissions across the board.

I’ll be interested to hear from others as to how much of an increase they are seeing, and if they are considering any changes to future cycles because of the increase (for example, changing eligibility, narrowing the scope of the RFA, etc).
